If you are looking for a witty and fun ‘self-help” book- this is a good one…
Tara pulls from her personal experience in a funny, yet raw and honest fashion.
This book describes her personal experiences with relationships and upbringing, her career and college choices, and developing rituals to improve her life and experiences.

Takeaways:

Your upbringing doesn’t define you or your abilities.

Everyone has baggage, but it doesn’t mean they should carry it everywhere with them. If they can’t seem to let it go and dwell on it, maybe they aren’t a person you should spend all your energy on.

Don’t settle. In work. In relationships. In anything.

Find your “family” and don’t waste time being with people you don’t want to be around.

Journal- this is helpful on so many levels- processing trauma, relationships, what makes you happy and fulfilled

Exercise- it’s a natural feel-good drug that wards off negativity and depression. Also, nature is a great healthy outlet. Build good habits and work to make them stick

Thank you cards- send “love and acknowledgement into the universe.” It feels good.

Positive self-talk- You wouldn’t let anyone else talk down to you, so don’t do it to yourself. Love yourself and your body.

Treat yourself like you would a guest, give yourself gifts and things you want. Don’t skimp on yourself (within budget of course…)

Be mindful of your living space- have an area for clutter but keep the rest clean and guest-ready.

Buy yourself the fucking lilies- Treat yourself. You deserve it! While you are at it, make time for you, prioritize your happiness.

Don’t worry what others think- they don’t care. Also, the way they treat you is on them, not on you. But don’t put up with that shit either! It’s not personal, it is their limitation and inability to grow and be kind to others.
